A Sledge man will spend two decades in prison for threatening a postal worker with a dangerous weapon.

According to court documents, 47-year-old Henry Weaver was convicted in federal court on February 13 of one count of threatening a mail carrier with a dangerous weapon. The threat occurred in Marks on April 23, 2022.

Weaver was sentenced by United States District Judge Sharion Aycock to the prison sentence followed by three years of supervised release. Weaver, who has been in custody since his arrest, was remanded to the U.S. Marshals to begin serving his sentence.

“We will not tolerate threats of violence against mail carriers while they are simply doing their jobs,” U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner said. “We commend the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for their work on this investigation and for helping to protect the community from this defendant.”

This case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Quitman County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by AUSA Robert Mims.
